Turanga Kaupapa

Turanga Kaupapa is a tool developed by Nga Maia for use by Health professionals and whanau to consider aspects of Maoritanga that they may wish to encompass in their care plan. The concepts themselves are deliberately broad in order to inspire discussion rather than be prescriptive. They are not intended to eclipse regional kawa or protocols but seen as complimentary considerations. The training around Turanga Kaupapa allows Health professionals who work alongside Maori Whanau to consider aspects of their own cultural norms in relation to Maori in order to be open to the wishes of Whanau exploring the ways that they can retain their customs within the wider culture of Health provision.
